Education

The Institute organises various activities for university students including academic courses and excursions in the Middle East as well as training in Arabic and other Semitic languages. The topics of the academic courses are diversely related to different fields, areas, and eras of Middle Eastern studies. The academically advanced and affordable courses are aimed at Finnish university students who attend courses from many Finnish universities.

In addition, the institute organizes inservice training for Finnish school teachers. The courses have been organised in cooperation with the Finnish Union for Teachers of Religion (SUOL) and the Association for Teachers of History and Social Studies in Finland (HYOL).

The institute also offers online courses related to the Middle East that are open to everyone. The online courses are free of charge and do not require prior knowledge. The courses can be taken as part of an education or out of sheer curiosity. You can complete the courses independently at your own pace on a computer or other smart device.
