The Finnish institute in the Middle East (FIME) is hiring three conference assistants for the preparations and practical arrangements of the Seventh Finnish Colloquium of Middle East and North African Studies. The colloquium is to be held on 10-11 June 2024 at Tampere University. The assistants must be present on both days for the entire duration of the conference program. In addition, they must be available the day before the colloquium, Sun 9 June, and participate in two remote meetings/orientations and one face-to-face meeting in Tampere before the colloquium. More than a hundred researchers in the field and other participants interested in the Middle East from Finland and abroad are expected at the event.
The conference assistants are paid a fee of 250 euros.
Apply by submitting a free-form letter of application and a CV via the online form no later than Thu 2 May by 11 AM. Short interviews will be held on the second week of May, and those selected will be informed by Friday 10 May.
This call is aimed primarily at Tampere University students interested in the Middle East. Students at other universities can apply for the positions, but in this case please note that FIME will not reimburse the travel and accommodation expenses of the conference assistants. Excellent English skills are required, and Arabic and/or French skills are considered an advantage.
